James Gath

After graduation I attended Indiana University and never escaped the Midwest. I got married after school and ended up in Indianapolis, as a geologist for an engineering company.  In 1970 they wanted me to work on the North Slope in Alaska and I didn’t think that was such a good idea as by then I had kids and the job would keep me away for extended periods of time.

I changed careers to sales in the scientific research arena, and have been at it since.  I stayed in the Indianapolis area until I got divorced in 1982 and moved to the Chicago area.

I’ve had a couple of stops in Texas and Michigan, but spent most of the 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s in the Chicago area.  My kids are all married and scattered about the US, so it makes for a steady diet of travel just to keep up with them.

Most of my family is still in Cortland so I get back at least once a year. I’m nearing the point of retirement so I bought a place in Florida for the cold months, and I’m looking forward to no more shoveling of snow in the winters.
