I graduated from St. Lawrence University, married my college sweetheart in 1967, and taught 8^th grade English at the old Cortland High building while he was overseas in the Army.

 

    Then we went to grad school at Michigan State.  I've stayed in education, the last 30 years working at Valparaiso University in Northwest Indiana, directing the writing center here.

 

    We have one daughter, a teacher too, and three grandchildren who live near Chicago, a truly great city.

 

    My interests are the usual—gardening, quilting, writing, and Lake Michigan. Whenever I make a trip back to upstate New York (dad is 93 and well in Cortland), I'm overwhelmed again by the beauty of the hills. "Upstaters" are on vacation all the time!
