Hi Everyone,
Looking back at high school, time was a flash. We were there and
then gone. One regret was not knowing every classmate as well as I would
have liked. School was fun most of the time. We had some great teachers
and also some teachers that were a waste of time for me.
I graduated from SUNY Morrisville in 1965 with an A. S. in Food
Processing Technology. Plan was to enroll in the University of Georgia to
complete my B. S. in same program. Viet Nam emerged, ended up in the Marine
Corps, spending most of my tour at the DMZ. The last few months were spent
at Khe Sahn. Some of you may still remember the Khe Sahn entrapment. Sad,
scary, and exhilarating at the same time.
After discharge, I enrolled at the University of Buffalo School of
Physical Therapy. Again, my plan after graduation was to complete graduate
studies and was accepted at Ranchos Los Amigos National Rehabilitation
Center in California. Stopped at Community General Hospital in Syracuse,
seeking only summer employment. Ended up staying 18 years; 16 years as
Department Head and 12 years as Clinical Instructor for SUNY Upstate. In
1990, opened an office in Cortland with partner, James Cullen, Ph. D., PT.
Still working and enjoying life.
Highlight: In 1983, I was fortunate to meet Linda Sciaruto, also a
physical therapist. Married in 1985. Built a home on Crooked Lake in
Tully. Still there. I really lucked out. Wonderful wife and two great
kids: Carly, 18 and Capri, 15. Also a son, Skipper, 7 1/2 (black lab).
Skipper is in charge of homeland security. Works for two meals a day. Not
a bad deal.
To be continued at reunion. Pictures coming.
Have fun.
P. S. On June 22, I blew my knee out. Scheduled for surgery on July
17th, so I may see you on crutches.
