Hi Everyone!
This has been a long time coming. I had one written about a year ago but never submitted it. Much has changed since then. After reading the Bio’s many of you posted, my life isn’t as exciting or collegially successful. But I do pride myself on my family. Well her goes---
I married Larry Sardo in 1965. We had three awesome girls, Maria, Gina, and Lisa. Larry and I owned and operated Regina’s Beauty Salon on Main Street in Cortland. Between the two of us we created a very successful business. After many years of marriage Larry and I began to drift apart. Sadly we divorced but always remained good friends. Larry moved to Long Island and remarried. On April 19th 2008 Larry passed away from a massive heart attack. Our girls are missing him terribly. We both were very proud of the girls. We have seven grandchildren. We are also very proud of them too!
Maria is 42, the mother of three terrific girls. She is a teacher in the Cortland school system, teaching 4th grade at Smith school. Her girls are very athletic. Kazzi, the oldest, has been accepted at Penn State College, we are very excited for her. Kourtenee is the middle child who wants to teach also. Kindrah, the youngest has made the junior Olympic team for soccer. Kourtenee has been trying out for the team. All three girls have been on the Homer soccer team. Watching all three girls play Varsity soccer has been a real treat for me. I must say they are real good.
Gina is 38. She and her husband Dino are both Chiropractors. They have two children, Michael 4 and Marissa 7. About a year ago Gina changed careers. They moved from Long Island to Syracuse. She is a sales rep for the Eli Lilley pharmaceutical company. She had a private practice in Manhattan. Many of her patients were celebrities including P-Ditty, a basketball player, Reggie Miller, Kamora, and Russell Simmons just to name a few. Her husband, Dino has not been able to sell his practice yet. He comes to Syracuse every Friday night and leaves early Monday morning. We pray it will sell soon. He’s a wonderful guy.
Lisa is 34, married to David King, they have two children. Jake will be 5 in April and McKenzie will be 2 in April. David graduated from Penn State. They are a Penn State family. They live in Charlottesville Virginia. Liza teaches 3rd grade. She was chosen teacher of the year when they lived in Chesapeake Virginia. David works for the University of Virginia and referee’s football and lacrosse. He too is a terrific guy. They were high school sweethearts. They are a sweet couple.
As for me, about a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I closed my shop and am now retired. I live with Gina and Dino in Syracuse. This past year has been HELL! I do feel better and hope my cancer is in remission. April is the big test.
Without my girls I could never have gone through these treatments. Being in Syracuse is better because I’m close to all my doctors.
My parents are both still living. They are 89 and have their problems, but all in all they are doing well.
Thank you to all of you who have sent cards, phone calls, and well wishes for the past year. It has meant so much to me. I always love hearing from you.
So as you can see this has been my life in a nut shell. I’m looking forward to a brighter future.
I don’t have a college education or a ton of degrees but I have the greatest family you will ever meet!
My love and best wishes to each one of you.
Reggie
